For the third time in five seasons, the Pacific Division split a million-dollar prize as three-on-three All-Star champions by winning both games last weekend at St. Louis’ Enterprise Center. Anze Kopitar represented the LA Kings at the event for the fifth time since 2008 and flashed his Selke-tested defensive acumen that All-Star Games are noted for, as illustrated by this assist on a Max Pacioretty goal and the stick checking depicted below on Jack Eichel.

The Hershey Bears made headlines at the AHL All-Star Classic as goaltender Vitek Vanecek allowed only two goals in four games to earn MVP honors and former Reign and Kings forward Matt Moulson was greeted with a spirited reception in his return to the Inland Empire. One night after Martin Frk set a North American All-Star skills competition record with a slapshot that registered 109.2 miles per hour, he, Kale Clague and Cal Petersen were warmly saluted by the hometown fans – as Anthony Stolarz and Chris Wideman of the San Diego Gulls were playfully but energetically booed – in the Pacific Division’s three games during a three-on-three tournament comprised of six 10-minute games and a six-minute three-on-three championship. Several ex-Kings were feted at the event as Robbie Ftorek joined Denis Hamel, Darren Haydar and Fred Thurier as a 2020 inductee to the AHL Hall of Fame, and Derek Armstrong and Robb Stauber served as honorary captains.
