10 Days of Dustin – Kings Unveil (2)3D Billboard, Brown Merchandise Line, 2012 ATKM

Three releases today, Insiders, as we continue the celebration of franchise icon Dustin Brown, in advance of his jersey retirement and statue unveiling this weekend on Saturday, February 11.

First and foremost, at least by the scale, the Kings released a pretty cool project earlier this morning, with a 3D Billboard of Dustin Brown, showcasing his style of play and championship legacy directly across from Crypto.com Arena. Embedded below in full video, the digital billboard showcases Brown bodychecking an unfortunate opponent through the building, before raising the Stanley Cup, as he did twice as captain of the LA Kings, for the City of Los Angeles to see. Have not yet had the chance to see this bad boy live, but I am certainly excited to do so later in the week.

What do we like better – (2)3D or 3Dustin? Either way, this is sick.

The billboard, which will run through the game on Saturday, also includes a QR Code for a personal, at-home, virtual Dustin Brown. Video and a few stills of the billboard are shown below.

LA Kings President Luc Robitaille
We wanted to do something big to help honor Dustin’s many contributions to the Kings and to the Los Angeles community, and upon seeing the 3D billboard for the first time you really experience that ‘wow’ moment, especially how the Stanley Cup is featured. It is a great way to help celebrate Dustin’s career, and with the AR component a new way to engage with our fans. We are also thrilled to continue working with YOOM to blend new technologies with hockey to create memorable experiences for our players and our fans. Dustin Brown’s jersey retirement is the perfect opportunity to show the sports world what can be accomplished and how the fan experience can be elevated to unprecedented levels.

Gilad Talmon, CRO of Yoom
It is a real honor to continue our partnership with the LA Kings by helping celebrate such a legendary moment as Dustin Brown’s retirement. Brown will now live forever in the digital space, providing new, immersive ways to connect with fans both present and future – and YOOM is proud to be powering the volumetric tech that makes this a reality.

From the team’s official release –

Beginning today, a sprawling 3D billboard featuring Brown on an LED video façade – which is the length of a football field – can be seen at the corner of S. Figueroa St. & W. Pico Blvd. The billboard also features a QR code that leads fans to a special AR (augmented reality) experience in honor of the Kings legend, who is the franchise’s all-time games played leader and the first player in team history to lift the Stanley Cup.

The unique activation, captured and created by YOOM’s AI technology, will run through the end of this week. Media and fans are encouraged to visit the location and engage with the AR experience.

The public salute to Brown helps kick-off the week which culminates with his No. 23 jersey being retired by the Kings on Saturday night as part of a special pregame ceremony at Crypto.com Arena.

The jersey retirement ceremony on Saturday, February 11, will see Brown’s No. 23 banner ascend to the rafters, and a statue unveiled outside the arena at Star Plaza as the Kings take on the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Crypto.com Arena. Fans attending that night’s game are being encouraged to be in their seats by 6 p.m. Both ceremonies will be broadcast live on Bally Sports West and in the arena.

The unique components of the billboard – located at Moxy and AC Hotel Downtown Los Angeles across the street from the south entrance of Crypto.com Arena – were captured by YOOM, a deep tech company that brings humans into the digital world with cutting-edge AI volumetric technology.

Additionally, the Kings have launched the Dustin Brown, Forever A King merchandise line, live now via the Team LA Store.

Items include shirts, hats and hoodies, all honoring Dustin Brown, in addition to event-specific items, such as pins, pucks and commemortive sets. All Brown merchandise is available HERE.

Knowing that many Insiders are attending the game, fans are advised to be in their seats by 6:00 PM in order to take in the enterity of the banner-raising ceremony. The first ceremony will be conducted at that time, while the statue unveiling ceremony will be done later in the evening, outside the arena. For those not attending that game, both ceremonies will be broadcast in full on Bally Sports West.

Lastly, the final episode from the 2012 Reunion Series of All The Kings Men, which includes several reflections, both Dustin Brown and team related, from the members of that team. Coming up on Thursday will be a Dustin Brown-specific episode of ATKM, the final episode of that series. Enjoy Below!

And that is our daily dose of Dustin! Following up later on today with a sights and sounds recap for Kevin Fiala from the 2023 NHL All-Star game, where he finished second in the Fastest Skater competition and collected a pair of assists during the All-Star game.
