All-Star Weekend is always an interesting juxtaposition of heated rivals in such a paused, congenial environment, one that allows a sage Drew Doughty to appreciate with wide eyes the “young guys,’ the “guys that have been in the league for one or two years” and the skill they demonstrate at these exhibitions. This weekend, in his fifth All-Star experience, he was a teammate of Elias Pettersson’s for the first time and still managed to find some time alongside familiar late-January teammates Brent Burns, John Gibson and Connor McDavid. Hopefully you can stand the teal-laced uniforms – made out of recycled plastics – worn during a quick Pacific Division semi-final exit as part of a memorable weekend in a building Doughty loves to play in.
