The Stanley Cup is back on North American soil, but first, there’s one last batch of photos and accounts from Russia, where Slava Voynov welcomed the Cup to Chelyabinsk for the second time in three seasons. He is the only NHL player to have ever brought the Cup to Chelyabinsk, where he was joined by a team representative two years ago (2012 video here).
Via NHL.com’s Summer of Stanley blog:
Voynov, 24, spent the day sharing the sport’s most prestigious trophy with his hometown friends and family. In the morning, he arrived with the Cup at the office of Boris Dubrobsky, who is the acting governor of Chelyabinsk.
From there Voynov and the Cup decided to go shopping. For a Ferrari.
Philip Pritchard of the Hockey Hall of Fame and one of the keepers of the Stanley Cup, tweeted a photograph of Voynov and the Cup between red and silver Ferraris. The Cup helped Voynov make the decision rather easy.

He also took the Cup to his hometown ice rink in Chelyabinsk, where he posed for photos with many of his younger fans.

The Cup is currently in the hands of Associate Head Coach John Stevens, who will welcome the Cup to his off-season home along the Jersey Shore…

…but not before he got together with Justin Williams, who will spend time with the Cup this weekend before it returns to Ontario for the second time this summer.

Meanwhile, there’s a great writeup of Marian Gaborik’s day with the Cup, courtesy of LAKings.com’s Deborah Lew. As always, we recommend following Philip Pritchard (aka the “Keeper of the Cup”) on Twitter and the LA Kings on Instagram for photos of the Cup’s constant travels.
