Good morning, Cary

Good morning, Cary, and good morning, Insiders.

No, it’s not Raleigh, nor is it Cal-gary, but rather Cary, a comfortable suburb in the booming Research Triangle, a swath of medium-sized cities and ACC universities spread over a six or seven-county region. It’s beautiful and woodsy and particularly unique across the NHL travel circuit, especially coming from Las Vegas’ relentless forecheck on the senses.

But since SCHEDULOR has dropped us on PNC Arena’s doorstep in advance of Whalers Night, shouldn’t we be lionizing and photographing the panoramic majesty of Hartford, Connecticut? Lo, there we were, landing at, uh, Bradley International Airport at 5 p.m. Friday. Yes, that will do:

Pay little mind to this canine’d coach, which had no business in Hartford:

“I am sir Oracle, and when I ope my lips, let no dog bark.” – Petr Mrazek

More to come from the rink, where the Whalers just held a team meeting in lieu of a skate and the Kings will take the ice in an hour to skate off yesterday’s cross-country travel. Lots of Brass Bonanza to come, Insiders. Have a wonderful weekend.
