Good morning, Washington

Good morning, Washington, and good morning, Insiders.

Good morning, final day of the road trip. We were talking last night at dinner that the beginning of this trip seems like ages ago. The team flew east on January 31, and I feel there have been four storms that have blown through Southern California since we’ve left. More storms are forecast this week. That’s a good thing! Any Inland Empire dwellers around? How have the San Gabriels looked? Any chance for a dusting in the foothills? I’ve been checking the weather, and there have been some awfully low overnight temperatures we associate with Southern California perhaps once or twice a year.

We ate at Kellari Taverna last night, our favorite Greek restaurant on the circuit, and a place we saw an excellent jazz-fusion Beatles cover band in 2015 that performed a terrific version of Tomorrow Never Knows. The walk back to the hotel brought us through Lafayette Square and adjacent to the White House, where we’d been invited in 2013 and 2015. As we passed by, a wet snow fell around us that got a bit heavy and stuck to our jackets but didn’t accumulate on the ground. It’s wet outside today, and the precipitation should mostly fall in the form of rain from the reports we’ve been hearing (aka the iOS Weather icon).

Here’s what it looked like when we landed shortly before 4:30 p.m. yesterday:

The Kings are scheduled to take the Capital One Arena ice at 11:00 a.m. Lots more to come on a busy game day, Insiders. Let’s talk soon.
