Good morning, Toronto

Good morning, Toronto, and a very early morning to you, Insiders.

Finally, it’s that day we’ve all been waiting for.

No, not that day. The day in which Kings fans finally get their first look at a fun-looking, young, skilled Maple Leafs squad. Of course, it’s also Election Day in the United States, so any asylum seekers amongst our traveling party will already have a head jump on their competition.

A reminder: There’s no politics-talkin’ on this site. (Unless you have LAKI GOLD Status, in which case you’re allowed to talk politics, write in ALL CAPS and use casual profanity.) There are plenty of other sites to talk politics. Obviously we’re all aware that today is a very significant day in the country’s history, and it will be inevitable during the game thread and post-game threads that doings outside of hockey will creep into the comments section. That’s fine. Please don’t express support for or criticize any Presidential candidate, because people will respond to you, and then people will respond to them, and the entire commenting section will devolve into the dining room in which Chris Farley was served decaffeinated Colombian coffee crystals.

One more reminder: Because one of my closest friends is getting married on Saturday, I’m hopping off the road trip after the Montreal game and rejoining the trip in Denver Monday morning. There will be reduced coverage around the Ottawa and Winnipeg games, though important updates, plus post-game notes and quotes, will be posted to the site. Please bear with any potential delays, and thank you for your patience.

There’s no landing video on today’s Good Morning post. For whatever reason, the camera on my phone is not changing to a landscape view when I hold it sideways for photographs and videos. If you’d like to crane your neck and attempt to watch it as horizontally as possible, have at it. (Don’t waste your time.)

That’s it for now on a beautiful morning in downtown Toronto. Regular coverage will continue at the Air Canada Centre. Enjoy your Tuesday, Insiders.
