Amadio, Brodzinski, LaDue, Campbell up; Quick to IR, but no worries

And, lo, the roster moves you were promised:

Forwards Michael Amadio and Jonny Brodzinski, defenseman Paul LaDue and goalie Jack Campbell have been recalled from the Ontario Reign, who went 1-0-1 over the weekend during a two-game Midwestern swing. To make room on the roster, the Kings placed Jonathan Quick (undisclosed) on injured reserve, retroactive to January 24.

If you hearken back those halcyon pre-All-Star days, you may remember that General Manager Rob Blake had indicated that the All-Star break would serve as the requisite time to get Quick rest and help return him to where he needed to be. “If we can get five-to-seven days here by the looks of it, we’re going to use it,” he said on Wednesday.

Blake also confirmed at Scotiabank Saddledome that Quick would have to miss the first game out of the break because he was chosen to participate in the All-Star Game but did not miss a game due to injury leading into it. The Kings were unable to make a roster move affecting Quick prior to the All-Star break due to what Blake described as “roster restrictions,” and as a result Quick backed up Kuemper in the 2-1 overtime win. Because he was technically in the lineup, that game did not serve as the mandatory game missed to fulfill the league’s requirements for missing the All-Star Game.

As such, Darcy Kuemper is expected to start the opening game out of the break at Dallas on Tuesday with Jack Campbell backing him up. The understanding is that Quick should be available for Thursday’s game in Nashville.

At practice on Monday in suburban Dallas, Quick and Kuemper received virtually all of the work at the opposite ends of the rink. More on the subject will be shared by John Stevens after practice.

The Los Angeles Kings have recalled forwards Michael Amadio and Jonny Brodzinski, defenseman Paul LaDue, and goaltender Jack Campbell from the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League, Kings Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake announced today. Also, goaltender Jonathan Quick has been placed on injured reserve, retroactive to Jan. 24.

Michael Amadio appeared in two games during his assignment to Ontario, posting two points (0-2=2) extending his point streak to 19 games with the Reign (9-21=30). In 13 games with the Kings this season, he has three points (2-1=3) and four penalty minutes.

Jonny Brodzinski played in two games during his assignment to Ontario, recording one point (1-0=1). He appeared in 23 games with the Kings this season, recording two points (2-0=2), a plus-1 rating and six penalty minutes.

Paul LaDue recorded one point (0-1=1) during his two game assignment to Ontario. He made his NHL season debut Jan. 24 in Calgary, going scoreless with 11:44 TOI. He has played in 23 games during his NHL career, posting eight points (0-8=8) and four penalty minutes.

Jack Campbell has played in 22 games this season with Ontario, posting an 11-7-3 record, .920 save percentage and 2.63 goal-against average. As of his recall, he is on a five game point streak with the Reign (4-0-1).
