March 30 morning skate notes

Good afternoon from the Uber ride back to downtown Chicago from the United Center. There wasn’t a ton to report from today’s optional morning skate, other than there was a good turnout. We were all expecting an optional skate today after a full team practice yesterday; Darryl Sutter has been inclined, especially late in seasons, to provide extra rest for those who need it. Today was one of those days.

The skate, led by Associate Coach John Stevens and Assistant Coach Davis Payne, consisted of shooter-goalie one-on-ones, defenseman-forward exchanges, pick-ups by defensemen below the goal line and some transition work. Both goalies took part in the skate, and Jonathan Quick is expected to start after having left the ice first. No changes to the lineup are expected; for the projected lineup, refer here.

Tonight’s game will be broadcast on NBCSN with an expected puck drop of 7:40 p.m. local time. Prior to then, I’ll post some interesting Darryl Sutter quotes as well as a story on Tyler Toffoli. I’m also going to join Scott Laughlin on SiriusXM NHL at 11:05 a.m. PT and will be an Arena Cam guest on the NHL Network at 3:40 p.m. PT. I hope you can tune in! Enjoy your Monday, Insiders; there’s a big game tonight.
