I’d say the first goal would’ve been defensemen checking, and I’d say the second one, late in the first, would’ve been defensemen checking.
On what didn’t work on the power play:
I think we missed the net a lot. I think the first period, Kopi had two really good looks. That’s basically your first period power play. When you’re down two, you want to score.
On Washington having “recently” scored a lot of first period goals:
They do that a lot. Not ‘recently.’ That depends what you say by ‘recently.’ I think their scores this year in the first period are two-to-one. They pretty much dominate everybody first period. [Reporter: When you’re devising a game plan, what’s the key, or what do you try to do to prevent that?] I think you don’t want to get into an All-Star game with them. We’re not in that class.
On how Tyler Toffoli has looked through two games:
I think last night, I talked to him, he felt good. Two months between games, long time. He’s got two games under his belt.
