POSTGAME NOTES
–With the win, Ontario (20-9-6-0, .657 winning percentage) took over first place in the Pacific Division once again. They improved to 3-1-1-0 against San Jose (19-11-1-3, .618).
–The Reign’s seven goals established a new season-high. Ontario scored six goals in a 6-5 overtime win vs. Texas in their home opener on Oct. 21 of last year.
–T.J. Hensick recorded his 500th AHL point, becoming the 90th player in league history to reach that mark. His assist on Paul LaDue’s first period power play goal got him to 500 and he made it to 501 with an assist on Teddy Purcell’s third period goal. The veteran leads the Reign with 30 points (10-20=30).
–Jonny Brodzinski scored two goals for his first multi-goal game of the season and second of his pro career. He now leads the Reign with 12 goals.
–Sam Herr recorded a Gordie Howe hat trick (goal, fight, assist, in that order). It was his first multi-point game of his pro career.
–The Reign improved to 10-5-1-0 at home.
–Ontario’s power play went 3-for-7 and is No. 2 overall in the AHL at 27.5 percent. Their penalty kill finished 5-for-5 to improve to 77.1 percent.
–Goalie Jack Campbell made his 20th straight start and stopped 24 shots as his record improved to 17-6-3.
–Six players had multi-point games for the Reign: Adrian Kempe (two assists), Hensick (two assists), Mike Amadio (one goal, one assist), Brodzinski (two goals), Teddy Purcell (one goal, one assist) and Sam Herr (one goal, one assist).
–With this assist tonight, Backman is now on a three-game point streak (1-2=3).
–The Reign outshot San Jose, 33-26, and were led by Daniel Ciampini with six shots on goal.
