Head coach Mike Stothers, on what he takes away from the game:
Same thing we always talk about against Tucson. Special teams. They had absolutely nothing going, nothing. Totally dominated the game at the start. Till when? Second period when we started taking penalties. They live for the power play. They get themselves a game. Special teams. When you’re totally dominating a game until you start taking penalties, so it doesn’t do you any good to take a number of penalties. They took the first four. What’d we take? The next five? So, again, stay on the ice.
Stothers, on Brodzinski’s power play goal and how he’s been able to step up lately:
That’s what he does. He shoots the puck. That’s what Jonny does. He’s a shooter. So, give him the puck, he shoots it.
Stothers, on how Kempe is doing after taking a shot up high late:
I honestly don’t know. He took one, I think it was off his ear. He had a great goal, a great quick release. Good to see that the young guys are getting some goals and that’s what they’re expected to do. So, we’ll regroup and get ready for Wednesday and aim for a better result.
Stothers, on what the focus will be at practice tomorrow:
Just a chance to get better. Every day we go out there with the intention that we’re going to get a little bit better.
Jack Campbell, on what was working so well for Tucson:
Honestly, I can sum it up pretty quickly. I felt we played a really good game, all around, didn’t give up much. Even on our penalty kill they scored but we weren’t giving up much but I just didn’t come up with the saves like I have been and there’s a reason why you win and you lose and that one was on me.
Campbell, on Tucson getting traffic and players in front:
Both teams have good offenses, our team and their team, and I think part of that’s going to the net hard. Just part of the game and guys going hard for their teams and I thought our guys did a good job of protecting me in front and sticking up for me if they hacked me or something. It was a chippy game but it’s two good teams and I’m disappointed we didn’t get the win tonight.
Campbell, on what he wants to do differently if he starts Wednesday:
Just make the saves when we need them and we’ll get the win.
