Drew Doughty, on what went wrong:
We just didn’t execute our game plan, we went in there trying to get another goal in the third period. They pushed back. And it’s not what our team does. We don’t give up leads in the last five minutes of the game. That’s been our thing for a long time. It’s pretty frustrating right now.
Doughty, on Kopitar being out in the third period during Ottawa’s comeback:
We have so many players that have been in the league for a long time in situations like those. We’ve got to make the plays and not allow those goals to go in. That’s on us. Nothing to do with Kopi being out. Yeah he would have helped, no doubt about it. But that’s on the players in here. It’s our job to step up when he’s out.
Tyler Toffoli, on what happened on the Senators’ game-winner:
We just had a little breakdown and they scored. It’s pretty simple.
Toffoli, on the Kings’ breakdown in the third:
We got away from our game … When that happens and you start trying to play the other team’s game, especially them, things happen and they score two goals.
Toffoli, on losing Anze Kopitar and how it affected the third period:
Definitely that hurts but I think we’re all responsible enough to play the right way and play the structure that we have. We didn’t do that in the third period.
Toffoli, on what the Kings need to do to get back on track in Winnipeg:
We’re going to have to continue doing our tough road trip and start scoring on our chances and start winning games.
