Just a reminder that the Kings’ prospects will play the Phoenix Coyotes’ prospects in a game in Glendale, Ariz., at 6 p.m. today. The teams will also play tomorrow at 2 p.m. There is no TV/webcast/radio, but I will be there to provide coverage from both games, so stay tuned to the blog. Tonight’s updates might be more brief, because I will get the unique opportunity to watch the game from behind the bench, as part of a feature story I’ll be writing for LAKings.com. Should be quite an experience. But I’ll still post in-game updates — after goals, between periods, etc. — as well as a full recap after the game.
Manchester Monarchs coach Mark Morris will be behind the bench for the games, and here’s what he had to say about what he hopes to get out of the two games…
MORRIS: “It’s an opportunity to see game situations. Practices and games are way different, in that intensity is involved. Sometimes you see a guy’s best game in game-like situations. There’s also the odd case when somebody might be a great practice player, but you get to see their hockey sense and their compete level and how they’re going to perform when they face an outside shirt.”
Incidentally, if you’re near the Glendale, Ariz., area, the games are free to attend. I’m not sure about parking.
