Having registered points in four straight games, including a three-game, four-goal, six-point week, Tyler Toffoli was recognized for his recent performance by earning the league’s second star for play between February 8 and 15, the NHL announced Monday.
With three goals in the 5-3 win over Calgary on Thursday, Toffoli registered his first career hat trick. The 22-year-old has scored a team-high 18 goals as part of a 49-game, 36-point performance.
Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa earned the week’s first star by recording five goals and six points in four games, while Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne went 3-0-0 with a 1.30 goals-against average and .954 save percentage in wins over Tampa Bay, Winnipeg and New Jersey to earn the third star of the week.
Earlier this year, Jeff Carter was named the league’s first star for the week ending October 26, and Anze Kopitar was named the league’s first star for the week ending December 22. Tanner Pearson was also named the league’s Rookie of the Month for October.
The Kings return to action Monday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning (7:30 p.m. / FOX Sports West).
