Kings notebook (March 24)

Also, here were Terry Murray’s thoughts about Monday’s game against Colorado, and what he expects tonight…

MURRAY: “What stood out to me was just a pretty good, intense hockey game. Both teams were doing a lot of battling, a lot of competing, in those heavy areas. It’s what we expected, certainly, from them. I really liked the way our game started to get elevated, and hopefully we can build on that kind of an attitude going forward. (The Avalanche) generate some good things in the offensive zone. They activate their defensemen, they’ve got cycles going. You have to have great awareness on your D-zone coverage. That’s going to be a focal point for us here tonight, in our review, to make sure of the awareness on the point coverage. The two forwards are going to have to make the right decisions, and there’s going to have to be a lot of communication in our own D zone, those switches that are necessary. But I expect a real intense game. Both teams, again, will get on the forecheck hard and it’s going to be pucks to the net and jamming the net. Like they showed against us and, I think, like we showed against them.”
