On the first period:
Well, you can’t chase the lead against a team that’s…30 or 40 goals ahead of everybody in the league. Very tough to chase a lead.
On the challenges of facing Chicago on the road:
They’ve got 30 or 40 more goals than everybody else in the league. You can’t chase the lead.
On no defensemen registering a shot until Alec Martinez’s goal:
We didn’t have the puck very much, so generally most of those shots are standing-at-the-blue line plays or sneaking in. We didn’t have the puck much. We’re not in their zone much, so we weren’t very effective.
On whether the game was a “bump in the road” energy-wise:
You know what? They’re the Stanley Cup champions. They had their ass kicked last night, and they weren’t very happy about it, and I think Jonathan Toews in the first period pretty much just said, ‘OK, boys, it’s my time here.’
On Ben Scrivens’ improvement as the game progressed:
You’ve got to play 60-plus minutes, not two periods.
