On whether there was a “different mentality” for tonight’s game:
I don’t know. I think we tried to approach it with maybe a little bit more focus, just attention to detail. We obviously know they’ve got an extremely potent power play. I think they’re second in the league in offensive production, and they don’t give much up, either. I think we’ve got our work cut out for us, so it’s a matter of focusing on what we had to do, and executing our game plan.
On St. Louis’ two late goals:
One was at the end of a power play, and as I was alluding to before, they find ways to score on it. I’m not sure what they’re running at, like 25% or something like that. So you can only give them so many chances before they’re going to find a way to bury one. And then the second one, they just threw guys to the net, and I ended up getting tangled up a little bit, and they got a good bounce. It was fortunate that we could hang on at the end there. It’s a big game by Ty for us getting two big goals, and that enabled us to hang on at the end.
On how the team can carry momentum into the Anaheim game:
Well, we’ve got to get home, fuel up, eat right, get a good night’s sleep, and then [the] same mental process and everything that we did today, we’ve got to try and replicate that tomorrow. That’s the challenge of playing in this league, is you’re going to have back-to-backs, and you’re going to have back-to-backs against tough teams. It’s a good challenge for us, a good measuring stick for us.
On how he is “holding up” after 10 consecutive starts:
I feel pretty good. I definitely don’t feel fatigued right now. It’s another matter. Obviously I know when Quickie will be back, or when he’s scheduled to be back. So I’ve got to make sure I get my time when I can, so you don’t want to pass up any starts by saying you’re tired or anything. That being the case, if I didn’t think I could help the team win and give the team a chance, then I will let the coaching staff. It’s not fair to the guys to battle, and me not feel up to the challenge. As of right now I’m feeling good, and I feel like I can contribute positively to the team and give the guys a chance.
On playing well on home ice:
It’s a big game for us at home. We’ve got a couple recently where we kind of let teams hang around. It was nice to jump out to an early lead in the first half of the game, and we can take a lot of positives from that. But, again, we’ll take what we can from it. We don’t want to dwell on it or live on it. We’ve got to get ready for a game tomorrow.
