After missing 10 games with a broken foot – the Kings were 6-1-3 in his absence – Jeff Carter returned to the Kings’ lineup in the team’s 3-2 overtime victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Monday, contributing with an assist and a plus-one rating while taking three shots on goal and registering a pair of hits in 15:48 of ice time.
Though he did not take the ice for Tuesday’s optional skate, he spoke with the media following the Kings’ practice at the SAP Center in San Jose.
On whether the game appeared faster due to his absence:
Yeah, it definitely felt like it…I basically skated with me and Cliffy and Nolly for the last three weeks. I’m not used to the pressure and whatnot, so it took a few shifts to get into it, but I felt pretty good.
On whether he felt any discomfort during the game:
No, it felt good. It’s obviously…going to be tender, and my legs are going to be burning and whatnot, but it was pretty much what I expected.
On the team’s game-tying goal:
Good play by Kinger getting in on the forecheck. Rick made a good play finding a hole in the slot.
On Mike Richards’ assertion that he plays well when his dad is around:
Yeah. I thought we had a pretty solid game. Obviously it’s nice to get wins on these trips when they’re around. It makes things a little more enjoyable. Yeah, it was fun. We had a good time fater, and hopefully we can do it again tomorrow.
