Dustin Brown, beset by a hamstring injury suffered on the first day of training camp, skated for the first time with a nearly full assortment of teammates Wednesday morning at the Toyota Sports Center. Having previously skated one-on-one with assistant coach Davis Payne on Monday and with the scratched players during Tuesday’s morning skate, on Wednesday Brown skated as an extra forward as part of a color-coded group that included Kyle Clifford, Jarret Stoll, Trevor Lewis, Robyn Regehr and Drew Doughty.
He “feels good,” according to Darryl Sutter. “Just keep moving forward,” the coach said, before indicating that the captain will not take part in the Frozen Fury opener against the New York Rangers at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas this Friday.
“For sure not Friday. No chance,” Sutter said. “So we’ll just see how he does the next two days.”
There is little pain currently associated with Brown’s hamstring injury.
“He really doesn’t feel it. It’s not bothering him at all,” Sutter said. “It’s not so much that now. He hasn’t had any contact or [anything] since June. So we’ll just kind of gauge it.”

Stating that he was “good to go,” Jake Muzzin took the ice following Wednesday’s Kings practice and remains questionable for this weekend’s exhibition games.
“Skate today, skate tomorrow, and then we’ll just go from there,” Sutter said. “We’ll just see. He’s played three games. We’re not going to push it.”
Muzzin offered some cautious optimism that he’d be able to respond well from the skate.
“We’ll go out today, test it out just by myself, see how it feels,” Muzzin said. “Think I should be pretty good, though.”
It was a “fluky” play away from contact that felled Muzzin last Friday in Denver.
“I did it to myself trying to keep a puck in at the blue line. It just popped funny,”
he said. “It’s all good, though.”
