I’ll look forward — as I’m sure many of you will, as well — when these daily injury reports aren’t necessary. But obviously there’s a lot of news today, and after practice Terry Murray addressed the status of all of his injured players except Ryan Smyth, who is now off injured reserve and considered ready, and Andrei Loktionov, who is obviously still month to month…
MURRAY: “The guys who were on the ice here today, I do expect them all to be ready to go. Jack and Segal and Simmonds. Stoll still lacks some strength. He’s going to have to continue to get that worked on, on the off-ice part of it. Jones is doubtful.”
To follow up, I asked Murray about Jones’ status, and if there was any concern about a concussion…
MURRAY: “That word has not been mentioned to me. I know he has stiffness in his neck, a little bit of whiplash from the hit, and that seems to be the concern right now. When he rides the bike and gets his heart rate up to 150-plus, that’s when he’s having some issues. So he will go to the doctor this afternoon and get a good look and we’ll try to evaluate him from our team-doctor aspect.”
Just in case you don’t have your scorecard handy… Stoll has a strained groin, Johnson got hit by a shot on his ankle and Segal has a knee sprain. They’re all considered day-to-day, but as the saying goes…aren’t we all?
