Rob Scuderi’s postgame thoughts…
(on the game…)
SCUDERI: “I don’t know how many times we shot ourselves in the foot. I can think of at least three turnovers in the neutral zone that ended up in goals. Turnovers, goalie-to-D exchange. I’m not saying they didn’t do their part to earn the goals, but sometimes there are just times when you’ve just got to get the job done. That’s what cost us all those extra goals today.’’
(on whether there was a distraction with the coaching situation…)
SCUDERI: “I certainly hope not. We’re professionals and there’s still a job to do. I can only speak for myself. When the puck drops and you’re playing hockey, you’re not thinking about the coaching change. I’m thinking about what my responsibility is on the ice. Maybe we don’t have enough guys who are doing that. I’m not sure what the case is. Certainly tonight, you look at just flat-out mistakes that cost us goals, and it’s something that bad teams do.’’
(on whether it takes a game like this to open eyes…)
SCUDERI: “I hope it doesn’t take a game like this to open some eyes. How about the last three weeks? We have to wake up eventually. There’s only so much time left in the season. How much ground we think we can cover, that’s a scary thing. I’m not sure how many guys have been on teams like this, in situations like this, but there’s not that much time.’’
