Dustin Brown’s postgame thoughts…
(on the win…)
BROWN: “We were able to win one tonight, and that’s great, but if we play our game the majority of the time, we can play much better.’’
(on Jonathan Quick’s strong game…)
BROWN: “It’s great for Quickie, but we’ve got to give him more help. A lot of their chances came on the power play. They’re a top-10 power play in the league, and they moved it around. We found a way to kill it off with some big bodies and some big saves. Quickie, he’s been doing that ever since he’s been here.’’
(on the improved penalty kill of late…)
BROWN: “It’s just good that we’re killing off penalties now. We’ve had a good penalty kill for about the last year or so. We went on a little bit of a stretch there where we gave up power-play goals. For us, it’s just about working, and working smart, and a lot of sacrifice. If you look at the power plays, the chances we’ve given up, they’ve had some gaping nets and our guys have gone down and put their bodies on the line. That’s what you need on the PK.’’
(on losing Mitchell and Richards during the game…)
BROWN: “Those are two big pieces for our team. It’s an opportunity for guys to step up and fill a void. I don’t know the extent of their injuries, or what exactly is wrong with them, but losing guys in the middle of a game is not easy. We had to keep our shifts short. There were a couple of times when we got caught out there for extended periods, and it’s not easy when you’re shorthanded. It’s important to keep your shifts short, and we managed to find a way to win.’’
