Lewis sits and watches again

Terry Murray’s decision to stay with the same lineup tonight means another game off the ice for Brad Richardson and Trevor Lewis. For Lewis, a former first-round pick, it’s been a bit of a rise and fall. Lewis played his way into an NHL role last season and played 72 games as a fourth-line center and penalty-killer. Lewis appeared in 19 of the Kings’ first 20 games this season but now will be a healthy scratch for a fifth consecutive game. Lewis has one assist in 19 games and, essentially, has been unable to get back into the lineup because the Kings have been pleased with fourth-line center Colin Fraser, as well as the recent play of right winger Kevin Westgarth.

MURRAY: “(Lewis) can play a little more gritty. That’s the meeting that we had. I’m not talking out of school here. We had that meeting, and that’s the kind of game that I want to see him start to add to his game, iis dot-to-board (play). He needs to be bigger, he needs to be stronger, he needs to come up with more pucks and just dig in on the checking part of the game. He’s very good when it comes to penalty killing. He was in our first pair out there last year, in the second half of the year, and did a great job. He’s a player who can grab the puck when it gets a little hot in your own end, and settle things just by moving his feet and getting it out of danger, carrying the puck himself because of his quickness and speed. There’s nothing that I don’t like about his game. I just want to add to his game.’’
