Postgame notes (Nov. 28)

Some notes from last night’s game…

— The Kings recorded their fourth shutout of the season as they beat the San Jose Sharks 2-0 on Monday night at Staples Center.

— The Kings recorded their first home shutout of the Sharks since a 3-0 victory on March 23, 2002.

— Jonathan Quick made 33 saves for his fourth shutout of the season (most among all NHL goalies this season) and his 18th career shutout. Quick had a career-high six shutouts last season. Quick also became the sixth goalie in franchise history to play 200 games for the Kings.

— The Kings improved to 6-5-1 at Staples Center, 9-2-3 when scoring the first goal, 3-0-0 when leading after the first period and 8-0-1 when leading after the second period.

— Shots were even, 33-33, in the game. The Kings outshot the Sharks 16-11 in the first period and the Sharks outshot the Kings 13-8 in the third period.

— The Kings went 0-for-3 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill. In their last four games, the Kings are 1-for-14 on the power play and 16-for-16 on the penalty kill. Overall, the Kings have killed 18 consecutive penalties.

— Ethan Moreau scored a first-period goal, for his first goal and fourth point of the season. Moreau’s previous goal was on Oct. 9, 2010 at San Jose, when he played for Edmonton.

— Mike Richards scored a 4-on-4 goal, his team-leading 11th goal of the season. RIchards has scored at least one goal in eight of his last 10 games, and has a total of 10 goals in those 10 games. The Kings have an 11-2-2 record when Richards records at least one point.

— Simon Gagne had one assist, for his eighth assist and 15th point of the season. Gagne has three goals and four assists in his last 10 games.

— Willie Mitchell had one assist, for his fifth assist and sixth point of the season. Mitchell had five assists in 57 games last season.

— Trent Hunter and Jack Johnson each recorded a team-high four shots on goal. Dustin Brown and Kyle Clifford each were credited with a team-high four hits. Willie Mitchell was credited with a game-high four blocked shots.

— Drew Doughty led the Kings in ice time, at 24:57, followed by Anze Kopitar, at 23:10.

— The Kings won 29 of 69 faceoffs (42 percent). Mike Richards won 7 of 20 draws (35 percent). Anze Kopitar won 10 of 17 draws (59 percent). Jarret Stoll won 5 of 15 draws (33 percent).
