Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…
(on the game…)
MURRAY: “Well, it was a difficult game. St. Louis came out in the first period and they were putting a lot of pressure, really on the puck, over the top of us. We had opportunities to pass the puck on a couple of those breakouts, and we just made a poor pass, and that brought the puck right back into our end. So there was a lot going on very early, a lot of pressure, and it ended up being a pretty exciting hockey game.’’
(on the first period…)
MURRAY: “I thought we put a little bit of pressure on ourselves, in our end, because of just managing the puck. We got it going from below our goal line, but once we got it up to the top of the circle and the red line, then we had some problems. That’s where the turnovers happened and they were coming back at us. And they don’t hesitate with the attitude on the forecheck. Their north attitude was very, very persistent in the game, and early, it put a lot of pressure on us.’’
(on Mike Richards’ play…)
MURRAY: “Mike Richards played very well. A nice play by Loktionov. He ends up knocking the puck down and makes the play. Richards has been very hot and playing very well. He’s starting to feel comfortable in L.A. and we’re excited about that.’’
(on Richards going 15-for-16 on faceoffs…)
MURRAY: “He was very good, I know that. He’s a good player. He brings all elements of the game, and he’s so focused. That’s what makes Mike Richards Mike Richards. He gets into that zone of compete, and he just seems to be able to take over in situations. That’s where great players do that kind of stuff, and he was a good player for us tonight.’’
