Postgame notes (Nov. 4)

Some notes from last night’s game…

— The Kings were shut out for the second time this season as they lost to the Edmonton Oilers 3-0 on Thursday night at Staples Center.

— After a 5-1-1 start to the season, the Kings are 1-3-1 in their last five games.

— The Kings have scored two or fewer regulation goals in 10 of their first 12 games.

— The Kings are averaging 2.17 goals per game this season, better than only Anaheim (2.00) and the New York Islanders (1.80). The Kings have totaled 16 goals in 5-on-5 situations, in 12 games. Only two other teams — Detroit (15) and the Islanders (10) — have scored fewer 5-on-5 goals this season.

— After a five-goal burst in their Staples Center opener this season, against St. Louis, the Kings have scored one goal in their last three games at home.

— The Kings had not lost to Edmonton in regulation since Feb. 2008.

— The Kings were oushot 27-19 and recorded a season low in shots on goal. The Kings had 22 of their shot attempts blocked and had 15 missed shots.

— The Kings fell to 2-4-0 when allowing the first goal, 0-3-1 when trailing after the second period and 5-1-1 when being outshot.

— The Kings went 0-for-2 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

— Jonathan Quick stopped 24 of 27 shots. Quick has allowed three goals in each of his last four starts. Quick allowed a total of five goals in his first six starts.

— Ethan Moreau and Dustin Penner each recorded a team-high three shots on goal. Dustin Brown and Brad Richardson each were credited with a team-high five hits. Willie Mitchell was credited with a team-high three blocked shots.

— Drew Doughty led the Kings in ice time, at 23:52, followed by Willie Mitchell, at 22:39. Anze Kopitar led all Kings forwards in ice time, at 20:45, followed by Dustin Brown, at 19:58.

— The Kings won 30 of 51 faceoffs (59 percent). Jarret Stoll won 10 of 17 draws (59 percent). Mike Richards won 10 of 15 draws (67 percent). Anze Kopitar won 3 of 8 draws (38 percent).
