Parse solid, when he’s on the ice

In this latest go-around for Scott Parse in the Kings’ lineup, it’s been something of a mixed bag. Terry Murray put Parse in the lineup, in a second-line role, because he badly needed an offensive boost, and Parse hsa scored two goals in three games, including a power-play goal. On the other hand, he’s having a bit of trouble staying on the ice. Parse has taken six minor penalties in three games. Parse is on track to stay in the lineup Thursday, as the second-line left winger alongside Mike Richards and Dustin Brown.

MURRAY: “I kind of liked what Parse has given me here. I know it’s been a bit of an issue with him, and with me. I’m trying to be very understanding of what he went through in the offseason, with the hip surgery. It does take time. Most important in that, for the player, is to understand his own position, to get through that. I’ve said this before. Don’t begrudge your time in the trenches, when you’re out of the lineup. Continue to work hard, to get yourself back to a level of play. I think he started to buy into that during the last four or five days he was out, doing all the extra work to get skating, and it has paid off for him. He scored a couple goals. The line started to show a little bit of chemistry. He’s a player that, I think, has a great skill set and can give us that secondary scoring that we’re constantly looking for as a team. So it’s moving in the right direction.’’
