Heading into tonight’s games, the Kings lead the league in the fewest penalty minutes per game, with an average of 7.0. Last season, the Kings were right in the middle, at No. 15, with an average of 11.7 minutes. Of course, that’s a stat that will probably balance itself out over the course of the season, but it did lead to a question: are the Kings being aggressive enough?
MURRAY: “I think our mindset is pretty good. Looking at the way we’re playing, I’d like to see us be a team that’s getting the puck stopped up more consistently. On our forecheck, I think there’s a little too many in-and-outs on those pucks that are getting dumped in, which give us an opportunity to forecheck. Westie [Kevin Westgarth] not playing probably has a little bit of an impact on those penalty minutes. But overall, I think our mindset is in the right place.’’
