It’s the first live game of the season for Bob Miller and Jim Fox on FSN and, as always, Nick Nickson and Daryl Evans have the call on 1150-AM and affiliates. I’ll have updates on all the action right here throughout the game…

THIRD PERIOD
In goal: It’s still Quick vs. Hedberg.
End of period: Both teams had a handful of quality chances in the third period, but the Devils outshot the Kings 12-4. The Devils will have a 4-on-3 advantage for the first 16 seconds of overtime.

SECOND PERIOD
In goal: It’s the Kings’ Quick against the Devils’ Johan Hedberg. Brodeur required attention at the bench after a first-period save but stayed in the game.
End of period: Shots were 7-7 in a scoreless period. The Kings’ highlight came in the final three minutes, when Quick made a save on David Clarkson’s breakaway power-play attempt. The Kings didn’t have a power play and went 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.

FIRST PERIOD
In goal: It’s the Kings’ Jonathan Quick against the Devils’ Martin Brodeur.
Kings 1, Devils 0: The Kings took the lead 1:47 into the game, on a nice counter-attack after the Devils nearly scored. Justin Williams, under pressure, did well to control the puck under pressure in the right circle, then pushed the puck to the front of the net. Simon Gagne picked up the pass, then tucked a backhand shout past Brodeur from close range. Anze Kopitar also got an assist.
Kings 1, Devils 1: The Kings continued to dominate the action after their goal, but it was the Devils who scored next, and tied the game with 6:57 remaining in the first period. Zach Parise’s wraparound attempt went wide, and Petr Sykora’s shot was deflected on the way to the net, but before the Kings could cover or clear the puck, Patrik Elias skated in and knocked it past Quick to make it a 1-1 game.
End of period: The Kings had the better of the scoring chances but the Devils had the edge in shots, 15-11. The Kings went 0-for-1 on the power play and did not face a penalty kill.
