Because of tonight’s long flight and the lack of Internet access, there won’t be extensive postgame stuff until the morning. The general feeling in the locker room, though, was that breakdowns in the defensive-zone structure, particularly on plays around the net, cost the Kings more than a lack of offensive cohesion. Jonathan Bernier said he was displeased with his effort on the first goal but also felt that he was on the receiving end of excessive contact that was not called by officials.
In all, the Kings seemed reasonably satisfied with the split in Europe and are eager to get back to North America and a more normal routine. The Kings will land in Baltimore sometime around dawn tomorrow and won’t skate tomorrow, but I’ll have a lot of recap stuff from today’s game and the trip in general.
