THIRD PERIOD
In goal: It’s Bernier vs. Treutle.
Kings 5, Freezers 3: Ethan Moreau scored 3:50 into the third period to give the Kings a two-goal lead. Rob Scuderi took a shot from the left point, and Moreau cruised the front of the net, picked up the rebound and lifted the puck into the net. Anze Kopitar also got an assist.
Kings 5, Freezers 4: The Freezers got a goal with 29 seconds remaining, as Brendan Brooks beat Bernier with a high wrist shot to the far post.
SECOND PERIOD
In goal: It’s Quick against the Freezers’ Niklas Treutle, who replaced Curry at the start of the period.
Freezers 3, Kings 2: The Freezers took their first lead of the game with 8:18 remaining in the second period. Quick made the save on a sharp wrist shot, but the rebound kicked left to Serge Aubin, who scored from a sharp angle for his second goal of the game.
Change in goal: As scheduled, Jonathan Bernier replaced Quick in goal with 8:18 remaining.
Kings 3, Freezers 3: Anze Kopitar tied the game with 6:28 remaining in the period, with a sharp wrist shot from the left circle. Justin Williams and Scott Parse got assists.
Kings 4, Freezers 3: The Kings took the lead back with 14 seconds remaining in the period. Jarret Stoll took a slap shot from the left point, and Brad Richardson jumped on the rebound and scored from close range. Rob Scuderi also got an assist.
End of period: The Kings went 0-for-3 on the power play and did not face a penalty kill. [NOTE: Refresh the main blog page momentarily for pictures from before the game and the first period.]
[NOTE: Dustin Penner is not in the lineup tonight, and is replaced by Scott Parse. Parse is skating with Anze Kopitar and Justin Williams.]
FIRST PERIOD
In goal: It’s the Kings’ Jonathan Quick against the Freezers’ John Curry.
Kings 1, Freezers 0: On the first shot on goal of the game, Justin Williams went to the net, took a pass from Anze Kopitar and put a high wrist shot past Curry.
Kings 1, Freezers 1: With Scott Parse in the penalty box, the Freezers’ Serge Aubin scored a power-play goal with 7:19 remaining in the first period.
Kings 2, Freezers 1: Just 44 seconds after the Freezers tied the game, the Kings took the lead back, as Alec Martinez fired a shot past Curry. Dustin Brown made the pass and got the assist.
Kings 2, Freezers 2: The Freezers tied the game again with 2:28 remaining in the period, as Kevin Schmidt scored on an assist from Jesper Jensen. David Wolf also got an assist.
End of period: The Kings did not have a power play and went 0-for-1 on the penalty kill.
