The Kings went back to work today, with a practice that lasted more than an hour and was open to the public in Hamburg, creating a nice atmosphere. Fans cheered the players as they came onto the ice. The Kings went through their typical drills, even if the ice was a bit worn, given that the DEL game finished less than a hour before the Kings practiced. Here’s what Terry Murray and Justin Williams said about getting back on the ice…
MURRAY: “After a long day yesterday, getting on the ice today and getting a sweat going, it went good. The ice was pretty good. After a game, it’s always going to have some spots that are going to be a little rough, but overall practice went good. Guys got a sweat on and we got ourselves ready.”
Williams said the 10-hour flight, and the ever-present threat of jet lag, hadn’t impacted him too much. Players sat through the flight in first class and used the advice of the sleep consultant in order to acclimate themselves during and after the flight from Las Vegas to Hamburg.
WILLIAMS: “Quite comfortable, actually. I don’t think many of us had been on 11-hour flights. You expected it to be a lot worse, but airlines have come a long way. It’s almost like having your own bed there. We took a little pill, and I think I did exactly what everyone else did on the plane, got about four or five hours, maybe six, and watched a movie. It was actually very comfortable. I think, also, that when you have people around who you like, who you can talk to, it helps. You’re not in coach (class) next to some guy you don’t know. It makes it a lot more comfortable and easy to fly.”
