Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…
(on the six-goal game…)
MURRAY: “Sometimes it just takes some games to get some rhythm and a bit of chemistry going. Our games were spread out. You start to get a feel for your legs. You start to pass the puck better and, instinctively, the game starts to take over. It was good here tonight. The power play, penalty killing was very good. Kopi scoring three, Quicker got the shutout, it was great for them.’’
(on Kopitar’s game…)
MURRAY: “It was good to see him get himself on track here tonight. He’s been working real hard throughout the camp and you know, coming in, that he wants to show to himself, after his injury, that he can get himself to the same level again. I think tonight really goes a long way towards his personal confidence.’’
(on the way the goals were scored…)
MURRAY: “There were good things coming off the power play, the puck movement, the players off the puck moving to do the right things. The traffic around the net was real good, and then we had a shot mentality. So that part of it, the special teams, was very good. But I like the things that we did in the offensive zone off the cycle. Richardson’s goal, I guess, would highlight that, with making strong plays and moving your feet and taking the puck to the net and having net presence, with Hunter there. There were a lot of good things that we needed. We’ll try to build off it and keep working on our game.’’
(on the strong penalty kill, with some new players…)
MURRAY: “It’s nice to be able to use new guys in there, a guy like Moreau or Hunter. Moreau, in particular, is a very good penalty-killer in his whole career. Gagne, we know him. But just to be totally on page with what’s going on and what’s being asked of them, as we get into the penalty-kill situation, it’s good.’’
