LA-Area community activation plan heading into Monday’s USA-Canada Rivalry Series

Growing the game, Insiders.

For the most part, any time we use that phrase here it’s related to what the Kings as an organization are doing to help grow the game through the Kings brand. Over the next few days, that brand joins USA Hockey in advance of the Rivalry Series matchup at Crypto.com Arena on Monday evening. The women’s national teams from the United States and Canada will square off in Southern California in three-days time, however the event will be active beginning later this morning throughout the greater Los Angeles Area.

The Kings and USA Hockey announced the following community schedule, with events to run today and tomorrow –

Saturday, December 17
Rink Tour @ LA Kings Ice at Pickwick Gardens
Team USA players to appear at the special event from 9-10 AM. The appearance will feature the players on the ice and participating in an autograph session.

Rink Tour @ The Cube Santa Clarita

Sunday, December 18, Clinics
Two events take place in El Segundo, including a one-hour clinic and autograph session from 4:20 – 5:20 PM at the Toyota Sports Performance Center and a special Ball Hockey Clinic from 5:30 – 7 PM at El Segundo In-Line. Both events will feature Rheaume and Bolden and two USA Hockey members.

Additionally, Team USA will hold practices today and tomorrow, both at Toyota Sports Performance Center in El Segundo. The United States will hit the ice later today at 1:00 PM and tomorrow morning at 10:45 AM. All practices are also open to the public.

Monday, December 19 – USA vs. Canada
Those interested in attending the Rivalry Series can find tickets HERE

Portions of the proceeds from the game will benefit the Kings Care Foundation, specifically programs to grow and support girls hockey in Los Angeles.

The game-day experience will look a little bit different than a traditional game day at Crypto.com Arena, with some unique elements integrated specific to the Rivalry Series.

– Before the USA – Canada game, a series of special clinics will take place along with a USA Hockey seminar encouraging more female representation in youth hockey.
– Prior to that night’s game, former professional hockey players and current members of the LA Kings Hockey Operations staff, Blake Bolden and Manon Rheaume, will drop the ceremonial puck at center ice.
– During the game, for the first time ever at Crypto.com Arena, fans will have the opportunity to participate in a Chuck-A-Puck and a Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal or plush toy for donation to The Salvation Army by throwing them on the ice after the first Team USA goal of the evening.
– Additionally, fans will also be able to participate in Chuck-A-Puck, a fun and unique contest at the start of the second intermission. Fans can purchase numbered rubber pucks and throw their puck(s) towards the targets laid out on the ice. If your puck lands on one of the winning logos on the ice, you win a prize! All proceeds benefit the Kings Care Foundation.

In LA Kings news, the team is set to hit the ice later this morning in advance of tonight’s game versus San Jose. Coming off of an off day yesterday, expect today’s skate to be of the full-team variety. Today’s game is a home game, and let me tell you it feels good to be back in Southern California, but in many ways it feels like the seventh game of the roadtrip, and the toughest part at that. The Kings traveled across the country into the wee hours of Saturday morning, only to turn right back around and host San Jose tonight. It’s the same number of days as in between away games, but with 3-4 times the hours spent traveled. Tough schedule…….more to preview tonight’s action in a few hours!
