For the Kings, it’s one game without Anze Kopitar and one win. Of course, that win came against Edmonton, which has been in last place in the Western Conference for most of the season. A tougher test will come tomorrow, against first-place Vancouver, but at least the Kings know that if they play with poise and structure, there can be life without Kopitar. The suggestion that things might be “done” for the Kings didn’t sit well with Terry Murray today, when a Vancouver-based reporter simply asked Murray about outside perceptions that things might be grim for the Kings without Kopitar and Justin Williams…
MURRAY: “I don’t think that would be the right thing to say. I think it would be very ignorant to talk about being `done,’ when we’ve got a very good group of guys in a solid locker room. That’s what we’re going to rely on.”
“I think everybody came to the realization that you’ve got to play hard with what you’ve got. That’s the bottom line. There’s no call-ups, there’s no trades, the deadline has gone by. This is the group that’s in here, that needs to play the game the right way, and that’s what we did (against Edmonton).”
