Shots were 8-7 in favor of the Kings in a spirited first period. The best scoring chance of the period belonged to the Kings, when they were shorthanded. A 2-on-1 developed with Brad Richardson and Dustin Brown, but Richardson faced a tough cross-ice pass and the Kings never really got off a quality shot.
