The California Sports Hall of Fame announced today that Bob Miller has been selected as a media inductee. The organization, started in 2007 by former NFL running back Christian Okoye to help raise money for education, will also induct football coach Dick Vermeil, Football Hall of Fame player Mike Haynes, former heavyweight boxing champion Ken Norton and three-time boxing champion Tony Lopez. Miller will join Chick Hearn, Vin Scully, Jim Murray and Jim Hill as media inductees, and a ceremony will be held on Feb. 27 at the Ontario Convention Center. More information can be found at www.californiasportshalloffame.org.
Also this week, Jim Fox was named — by my former Daily News colleague, Tom Hoffarth — as the top game analyst in Southern California. Hoffarth, the paper’s media columnist, annually ranks local broadcasters, and also gave an honorable-mention nod to Kings radio analyst Daryl Evans. Hoffarth’s column, which also includes a feature on former Kings broadcaster Rich Marotta, can be found by clicking here.
