Off-Ice Round Up – New Away Jersey Partner, Doughty Mic’d Up, Kopitar’s Hard-Hitting Interview, 5K Upcoming

It’s been 133 days since the Kings were last on the ice as a team together, but we’re now just eight days away from the start of the 2024-25 training camp. And while camp is about to start up, the organization and Kings players have still been active despite not being in-season. The summer, off the ice, saw a splash made with the new jersey and logo drop, but that’s not all that’s been done along the way.

Rounding up the Kings summer off the ice, a notable announcement came earlier this week when a new away jersey patch sponsorship had been agreed upon. In a multi-year partnership, the Kings agreed to terms with new sponsor in Iron Bow Technologies as their road jersey patches, with Iron Bow also becoming “the preferred IT solution provider of AEG, providing hardware and software solutions and services to the company and its global portfolio assets.”

Kings President Luc Robitaille
As we gear up for an exciting new season, having Iron Bow Technologies as our Official Away Jersey Patch Partner is a significant step forward for our team. Iron Bow’s advanced tech solutions will play a crucial role in enhancing our performance. Their commitment to innovation and excellence mirrors our own, and we’re confident that their technology will help us become a better, more competitive team, both on and off the ice.

Rene LaVigne, President & CEO of Iron Bow
I am immensely proud of the value Iron Bow brings to dynamic, global companies like AEG. By providing state-of-the-art technology solutions, we are enhancing the operations of a global sports and entertainment leader, a premier sports team and, empowering a diverse portfolio of unique entities within entertainment, real estate, and sports to thrive in a digital era. We are excited about the future ahead with AEG and are honored to be part of their journey.

Iron Bow’s visibility within the Kings also includes visible signage on television broadcasts, including Digitally Enhanced Dasherboards (DED) and virtual on-ice signage, displayed during each NHL regular season game at Crypto.com Arena and at the practice facility in El Segundo, Toyota Sports Performance Center. IronBow, along with a new center ice logo, will be in place for the Rookie Faceoff this coming weekend.

As for the players, the Kings two longest tenured Kings have been out and about in Los Angeles ahead of the upcoming season. The Los Angeles Dodgers hosted Kings night on August 21st earlier this summer with a Kings themed Dodgers jersey. Representing the Kings that night was Anze Kopitar and his family. Kopitar kicked off the game by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, while Kopitar’s kids serenaded the crowd with the famous calm of “it’s time for Dodger baseball.” The soon-to-be 19-year NHL veteran is set return to the Kings on the two-year $14M ($7M AAV) that he signed in the summer of 2023. His kids also conducted a hard-hitting interview with their dad on the way to the game, putting us all one step closer to retirement.

Also spending time this summer visiting his fellow LA athlete brotherhood was a mic’d up Drew Doughty who dropped by the Los Angeles Rams practice ahead of their Week 1 season opener. Doughty, who was also accompanied by Trevor Moore, Tyler Madden, Charles Hudon, Jacob Doty and player development coach Matt Greene spent time greeting fans, talking with Rams players such as wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua and rare Canadian NFLer, linebacker Michael Hoecht.

And last but definitely not least is the Kings final off-ice activity the summer, coinciding with this weekend’s Rookie Faceoff.

Just days from now is the 11th Annual LA Kings and Kings Care Foundation 5K run/walk. Sponsors by Iron Bow Technologies, Blue Shield of California, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and True Classic, the event takes place this Saturday, September 14th, in the Riviera Village area of South Redondo Beach. It will start at 8 a.m. and can be attended in-person or virtually.

Kings analyst Daryl Evans will be hosting the 5K as hockey fans come together for a morning of fitness and fundraising for the Kings Care Foundation, all in celebration of the game of hockey and launch of the new season.

Appearances from several current Kings players, broadcasters and Bailey are a guarantee and all participants will receive an official LA Kings 5K t-shirt, finisher medal, race bib with timing chip and access to the Vendor Village. Complimentary refreshments including fruit and water will be provided to all racers courtesy of Coca-Cola and Melissa’s Produce. Plus, all participating fans will receive two (2) complimentary tickets to a mutually agreed-upon LA Kings home game during the 2024-25 season.

5K registration is still available HERE.

As always, the funds raised at the 5K will support the mission of the Kings Care Foundation which is to support families in Los Angeles by dedicating financial and in-kind resources to services and programs. To that end, the LA Kings Hockey Club reinvests in LA-based non-profits with the following shared goals –

1. Wellness – Support institutions and programs that ensure the mental and physical development of youth in Los Angeles.
2. Sustainability – Prioritize sustainable business practices in our facilities and mobilize the entire LA Kings community to act responsibly.
3. Social Advocacy – Address the challenges threatening our community that increase homelessness and violence.
4. Inclusion – Foster environments that welcome individuals of all races, genders, socio-economic backgrounds and abilities.
