LA Kings announce 2024-25 promotional schedule

Good morning, Insiders!

Sharing some information from the team regarding the 2024-25 promotional schedule, with some highlights below.

The Kings begin the home portion of their season on October 24 after a long, long, (LONG)……….long road trip to start off the season. It’s seven consecutive road games out of the gate, which follows two exhibition games in Quebec City to end the preseason. Five games on the East Coast, followed by one-off road games versus Anaheim and Vegas before, finally, the Kings come back to Los Angeles. Opening Night will feature a rally towel giveaway for every fan in attendance as the Kings host San Jose. Rally towels are usually a playoff giveaway and it’s just over 10 years after the reverse sweep……..there’s something in there.

November kicks off with Die De Muertos, which comes with an LA Kings Alebrije. I personally did not know what an Alebrije was until I Googled it. I now want an Alebrije. November 2 against Chicago for that one.

Also included in November are two extremely important nights, starting with the Salute To Service initiative. It’s a game the Kings hold every season and it falls right around Veteran’s Day. This year’s game is on November 9, two days before the federal holiday, on a game that will be filled with respect and tributes for all who have served in the armed forces.

Ending November is Hockey Fights Cancer, which comes with a poster giveaway. You know the HFC card when you see it and all fans that night will receive one to participate in an in-game moment of silence for their loved one. This is a promotion that I think impacts just about everyone. I certainly have loved ones who have been lost to cancer and the HFC promotion is an important one every season. Celebrating survivors, supporting those who are currently fighting and remembering/honoring those who have been lost.

A big one in December, mostly for Jesse Cohen, is Star Wars Night on December 7. A neck gaiter giveaway for the first 10,000 fans presented by Big Bear Mountain Resort. I still recall moving out to California six years ago and leaving my skis in New York. I didn’t think there was skiing in California. What an idiot. Were I to acquire a new pair and find a day during the season to actually go, that neck gaiter would probably come in handy. Also available that night is a unique, Vladislav Gavrikov Jedi bobblehead. Next year, I think it should be Obi Wan Danault-bi.

The holiday season presents a few different options. An afternoon game on December 28 for Kids day, which includes a figurine giveaway for kids aged 10 and under. The real giveaway, though, is the 1 PM start. The next night is the annual Holiday Game, with a fleece blanket giveaway, presented by Mammoth Mountain, for the first 10,000 fans. Another example of 2018 Zach Dooley not understanding that there is skiing in California. The LA Kings Holiday Ice rink at L.A. Live will be up and running. Capping off the 3-in-4 is the New Years Day game against New Jersey. A 3 PM start against New Jersey as the Kings start 2025.

January’s schedule doesn’t seem all that robust from a promotions standpoint, but one-time game ejectee Sidney Crosby returns to the scene of the crime as the Penguins come to town on January 20. There’s also the Lunar New Year celebration on January 22. As January flips to February, before the league shuts down for the 4 Nations break, the Kings will host Country Night on February 8 against Anaheim. A bandana giveaway for the first 10,000 fans. I don’t wear bandanas, but it’d be cool to have one if I did.

As the season kicks into the home stretch, the Kings will host Black History Celebration on February 26 against Vancouver, with a celebration of Black History Month. The Kings will honor Black culture and heritage, with a focus on growing the sport of hockey in Los Angeles. Following shortly there after is Women’s History Celebration on March 5, commending the impact that women have made on sports and beyond.

March also features one of the coolest giveaways of the season – a pickleball paddle. Not a giveaway, per say, but an item in a ticket pack. Fun story – Jared Shafran and I recently participated in Jack Jablonski’s charity pickleball tournament in Santa Monica. It was my first time playing pickleball and thanks to a very friendly draw, we reached the semifinals. Thankfully they didn’t play a bronze-medal match so we could say we tied for third. Fun day, fun sport. Someone get the paddles and we’ll play pickleball on March 16.

Rounding out the month of March is another Kids Game on March 22 against Carolina. Another afternoon start, another figurine giveaway, another early out from the rink for me. Pride Night, presented by Blue Shield of California, will be held on March 29, with the first 10,000 fans in attendance receiving a Pride-themed bucket hat.

As the season kicks into April, the L̶A̶ K̶i̶n̶g̶s̶ N̶o̶r̶t̶h̶ Winnipeg Jets come to town on April Fools Day, followed by the inevitable playoff preview against Edmonton on April 5, with the final Kids Day game of the season. Another figurine, as you know. First Responders Night is on April 7 versus Seattle, an important night, followed by a reusable mini tote bag giveaway on April 10 against Anaheim. Feels like Anaheim is mentioned 10 times in this article. rounding out the regular season is Fan & Season Ticket Member Appreciation night against Colorado on April 12.

That’s a wrap, Insiders!

I’m serious about that pickleball paddle. I played that one time and haven’t played since, but if you get the paddles and beat me 1-on-1, you can moderate the website for one day of my choosing.

More information on the biggest promotional night of the season – LA Kings Insider Suite Night – to follow later this month once I return home from vacation!
