Monday Morning Round-Up – Promo Schedule, Kopitar on Bergeron, Dodgers Game

Happy Monday, Insiders!

Sharing a few pieces of information from the last week that didn’t quite result in full stories last week, but they’ll turn the page over 1,000+ comments from over the weekend!

Starting off with the LA Kings promotional schedule, which the team announced on Friday afternoon.

The promotional schedule starts with preseason, with a magnet schedule giveaway during the team’s two preseason home games on Tuesday, October 3 and Saturday, October 7, for the first 5,000 fans in attendance. Opening Night on October 11 will have the first full-arena giveaway of the season, a pennant, to all fans in attendance as the Kings host Colorado on Wednesday, October 11.

Other giveaway opportunities include a four-part bobblehead giveaway series, which begins on Saturday, November 11. The remainder of the bobbleheads will be given away on Wednesday, December 20, Saturday, February 24 and Thursday, April 18. The players on the bobbleheads are currently unannounced, but will be announced closer to the season.

Other early-season giveaways include a “Squish Bailey Toy Giveaway” for the first 5,000 kids in attendance on Saturday, November 25, as well as a mini snow globe giveaway for the first 10,000 fans in attendance on Saturday, December 23. Second-half of the season giveaways include full-arena dog toy giveaway on Saturday, March 9 as well as pom-pom giveaway for the first 10,000 fans in attendance on Tuesday, March 19. Additionally, throughout the course of the 41 home games, several other Kings items can be obtained through themed ticket packs, including shirts, hats, scarves, bobbleheads and a lunch box.

As always, the Kings will host nights themed around the other sports teams in Los Angeles, as well as several other popular themed nights. LA Kings Insider Suite Night was not included in the opening launch, but excited to add that to the slate at some point soon! More details to come on that front.

This schedule is sure to change and not every giveaway, promotion or sponsorship is listed above – LAKings.com/Promotions for the most up-to-date information on the promotional schedule, now and throughout the season.

Kopitar Talks Bergeron
Kings captain Anze Kopitar gave a statement regarding the retirement of long-time Selke nemesis Patrice Bergeron, who announced his retirement from the game of hockey last week. Four times throughout their respective career, both players were nominated as finalists for the Selke, with Bergeron finishing either second or third during each of Kopitar’s wins.

“Congratulations on a remarkable career. It’s been an honor to watch and compete against you at the highest level for nearly two decades. Your career is a true testament to the game of hockey and the accolades you’ve received you’ve been recognized for reflect that. Enjoy the next chapter!”

All “Kopitar should have won more Selkes” conversation aside, Bergeron is one of the best two-way players in NHL history and will go down remembered as such. Arguably the best player from the 2003 NHL Draft. Certainly an icon leaving the game, paving the way for Kopitar to win the Selke Trophy each season until he retires. Think that is how that works. Will certainly be weird though to see the Boston Bruins in town without number 37 among the skaters who take the ice.

Kings Night @ Dodger Stadium
Also wanted to share some shots of Drew Doughty and Trevor Moore at Dodger Stadium from last week, as the two players attended the game against Toronto for Kings Night. Doughty threw out the first pitch, while Moore kicked off the game on the mic.

Just a bit outside, but a full 60 feet nonetheless, as Doughty avoids his 50 Cent moment with a solid effort. A few shots of Doughty and Moore from the festivities embedded below.

And there’s your wrap-up. Should have a few more specific stories here over the next week or so. Will have the next camp to camp feature, as well as a look at Pierre-Luc Dubois’ charity and the expectations and hopes for younger players on the Kings roster, centering around Quinton Byfield and Arthur Kaliyev. All coming up!
