Hockey is back in Ontario this weekend and the Reign are home for the first time this season at Citizens Business Bank Arena. On Friday evening, the Reign will face the Stockton Heat for the second time in six days before they host the San Diego Gulls on Saturday evening, the first edition of the So-Cal Series during the 2018-19 regular season.
Let’s start with the hockey – No changes to the Reign roster since the goaltending roster moves from earlier this week. Cal Petersen and Cole Kehler will be the goaltending tandem this weekend for Ontario and the entire Reign roster was on the ice for today’s practice. Should have a better picture from tomorrow’s morning skate on what the lineup will look like.
Caught up with forward Kyle Bauman briefly after today’s practice, who was excited to get back in front of the Ontario crowd this weekend after opening the season on the road.
“We have the best fans in the league. It’s always rowdy, it’s always a great environment in there and I’m super excited for the first home game, it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
With another contest against the Heat in a shorter time-span, Bauman noted that last game was high-scoring and that things “got a little chippy in the third period” which creates a bit of a rivalry and he’s expecting a physical contest in Ontario on Friday.
In other news, ICYMI, the Reign officially named their captain and alternate captains, as well as their leadership group, earlier this week. Check out the full write-up on that HERE.
Now, onto the games……..

I’ll be honest, I didn’t really know what “Day of the Dead” was about – and I definitely didn’t know what it was in Spanish – until I came out here, but it’s a big thing and the Reign have a pretty big night planned for an early celebration on Saturday.
Dia de los Muertos Night, presented by Violent Gentlemen Hockey Club, is the promotion with a bobblehead giveaway, presented by Violent Gentlemen for the first 5,000 fans. The Dia de los Muertos themed T-Shirts from the ticket plan, as featured above, are also a Violent Gentlemen creation that will be sold on the main concourse during both Friday’s and Saturday’s games. Saturday will feature a Reign Fan Fest prior to the game, located outside of the outdoor patio area. The Fan Fest will be a party to celebrate Opening Weekend with a live DJ, games and vendors, running from 4:00 PM through 6:30 PM.
