On tying Andy Murray for the most wins by a Kings coach and Jacques Lemaire on the league’s games coached list:
That’s good. [Reporter: Congratulations.] Thank you. [Reporter: Does that say anything?] Good teams. Lots of good teams. Lots of good players.
On having “battled back” and won a game it trailed in the second period:
We really didn’t think it was a battle back. I think the first period we played really well. I think we had the power play early, had the puck for almost two minutes, didn’t score, and then they had the two power plays. I think they had two or three empty nets on their power play, so we finally got a little puck luck. It just tells you how good a player Drew is. He mistake on their goal, and then he comes right back and evens it up I think two shifts later. It just tells you how good he is and how passionate he is about it, and Lewie makes a great play on the second goal.
On an assertion that Peter Budaj “played a great game”:
He had some luck. I mean, he’s going to thank a lot of different people tonight, I think, but he’s going to thank the [knocks wall].
On whether the game served as an example of Derek Forbort’s performance this season:
Whoever gets to play with Drew Doughty should feel very privileged to be able to do it and take advantage of it. When you look over the last three or four years, all these young defensemen that we’ve got to play with him and how they got rewarded in a lot of different ways because of that, whoever plays with him should play his ass off every night.
