Good morning, Philadelphia, and good morning, Insiders.
Hey, we’re on the East Coast again! In a bizarre scheduling quirk, 46% of the team’s road games this season take place over an eight-week, two-day span bridging mid-December to mid-February. So that means after this mid-Atlantic and Florida sojourn, 17 of the team’s 27 remaining games will be played at Staples Center.
Because Saturday’s game is a matinee, the team traveled east early Thursday afternoon and arrived after sundown. It was an uneventful flight – just how we like them – that ended with an approach along the Delaware River and adjacent to the team’s clustered collection of stadiums. There is little need for these landing videos as is, but at night, they’re especially purposeless. DO NOT CLICK PLAY:

It is said that Philadelphia’s City Hall – photographed above and below – was the tallest habitable building in the world between 1894 and 1908. Apparently the Eiffel Tower and Washington Monument aren’t considered “habitable” structures. (Not with that attitude, at least.) But this hotel room view surely does beat the familiar Munters units and rooftops we’re accustomed to seeing. Atop the observation deck is a 37-foot statue of William Penn that weighs 27 tons.
It’s time to head to practice, Insiders. I’ll have more from Paul LaDue and others on a busy day in advance of tomorrow’s show-and-go game, if I’m allowed to borrow a baseball term. (I am; this is my blog.) Have a great Friday, Kings fans. Let’s talk soon.
