January 21 postgame quotes: Darryl Sutter

On the evolution of the 3-2 loss:
We had a really good start, gave up a bad goal and fought back in the third. We wanted to try and score early on that power play. The guys did a good job, tied it up. It’s sort of the same – they scored those two power plays goals, same things, one either a rebound or between the goalie and the defenseman in front. You’ve got to stop the puck and win a battle.

On Anders Lee’s two power play goals:
Yeah, we’ve talked about him, how good he is around the net. When we played him out there, I think he scored both goals against us. [Reporter: When a guy’s that effective around the net, what do you look for-] They’re different. Both goals, they’re not similar because Lee’s second one’s a power play goal, right? Or a faceoff goal. Kopi loses adraw, and then a shot wen through him, so he’s in the shooting lane, he’s got to try and block the shot, and Muzz has got to have a read. He’s got to tie him up. The first one’s a little different because it starts a little higher, it’s a little different play, right? Kevin in front of the net, he leans towards the diagonal play, and he should lean towards Lee. A little bit of experience there, a little bit of need a better performance from the goalie, that’s for sure.

On New York’s first goal:
Good thing he had a hat. Good thing he was wearing a mask. It wasn’t a shot on goal.

On whether there’s any indication on the severity of Nic Dowd’s injury:
I mean, you guys, you saw it. I haven’t talked to him. I mean, literally, he tried it and couldn’t go. I couldn’t see where it was because it was down from our bench, so we’ll see. He was walkin’.
