Jake Muzzin, on using possession to facilitate overtime success:
I mean, that’s the big thing for our club is keeping possession of the puck and not forcing plays or giving it away. We kind of just be patient with it and wait for our opportunity. When we get it, we’ve got to capitalize on it, and we’ve been able to do that most overtimes.
Muzzin, on the game-winning goal:
I was kind of just supporting Kopi there, and I kind of saw the little kick play that he was doing there, so I just picked it up, just saw Carts busting down to the net and gave it over to him, and he put it in, so it was a pretty good play.
Muzzin, on the team’s adjustments:
I don’t think we adjusted much. I mean, we hit a lot of posts, we had a lot of opportunities, scrambles. We just capitalized on one, and that got us obviously to tie and put it in overtime.
Muzzin, on Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown generating offensive looks:
Yeah, they were buzzing. It’s nice to see a little chemistry going. I don’t know what’s going on, but it’s awesome.
Muzzin, on Peter Budaj’s save on Blake Wheeler:
Yeah, huge. Kept us in it, gave us a chance to tie it, and we rewarded him by doing that. So, good team effort there.
Muzzin, on the confidence to push back at Winnipeg after falling behind:
Yeah, they get a goal like that, goals, bounces are going to happen. We had a lot of bounces as well. We stay with our program and keep the same mindset, and we fought back and got one late.
Muzzin, on the number of posts the team hit:
Yeah, just keep shooting. You’re going to get a post and in or a bounce and in, so we got one. [Reporter: Cliffy hit posts on that one. Did you see that?] Yeah, pretty impressive, huh? He can’t hit the net, but he can hit both posts. That’s crazy.
Dustin Brown, on the game-winning goal:
Kopi I think is the guy that really makes the play. I think he plays it with his foot. It’s plays like that that kind of separate him from pretty much the rest of us in here.
Brown, on Kopitar looking to get his offense going, and his own performance:
As players you try to play the same way. I think Kopi’s been getting looks, getting better. I feel like every year right around this time of year he always finds a way to kind of rack up the points and help us win games.
Brown, on the ability to collect two points:
Yeah, it was huge. We didn’t come out very good in the third. At the tail end of the second we weren’t very good, and we kind of weathered it and found a way to get back into it and win in overtime.
Brown, on whether the team was aware of Winnipeg’s closed-door meeting last night:
I think we don’t really think about what they’re doing. Obviously from an X and O’s standpoint we want to have an understanding of what they want to do, what they want to try. But stuff like that doesn’t really come into it.
Brown, on the lift the team received from Budaj’s save on Wheeler:
Those are the types of saves that we need to have. A couple breakdowns tonight and he came up big. He’s been doing that all year. We’ve been spoiled here, I think. We’ve been used to that. Now without Quickie, Boods has stepped in and he’s been able to make those saves, as well.
