January 2 practices notes: No Mersch; outdoor game info

Some notes from my brief visit to Reign practice today as I had other obligations that didn’t allow to stay for media availability.

–Michael Mersch did not practice. It was reported on Saturday night after Mersch was out of the lineup for the first time this season, that he is a bit banged up. The left winger is third in team scoring with 21 points (10-11).

–Also noticeably missing was forward Joel Lowry. As a result, Alex Lintuniemi subbed in as a forward on the fourth line alongside Michael Latta and Sam Herr. I’ll inquire about his status tomorrow.

–Injured players Paul Bissonnette, Andrew Crescenzi and Zach Trotman also didn’t skate.

–Rain is forecasted for Saturday’s outdoor game in Bakersfield (80 percent chance, according to weather.com). ORI inquired with Bakersfield PR and as of now the game is set to start at 6 p.m., as scheduled, and any updates of any change to that would be provided closer to game day.

–The Reign released defenseman Alexx Privitera from his PTO on Sunday. He appeared in two games during his stint in Ontario.

–Here’s a video from today’s practice, courtesy of Joey Zakrzewski, looking ahead to the outdoor game and the Reign’s full week’s worth of practice:
