December 1 postgame quotes: Zatkoff, Nolan

Jeff Zatkoff, on getting into a game:
… obviously not the circumstance probably you want to come in but it was nice to get in there. Got some shots early on, was able to settle in to it and I thought we did a good job kind of weathering their push there in the second and tied it. It was a greedy win, we probably didn’t play our best but it’s two points and at the end of the day that’s all that matters and we got contributions up and down the lineup. Every line contributed and that’s the way you’ve got to win in this league. Not a lot of the times you can get by living on one line.

Zatkoff, on whether doubt creeps in when he goes a long time between starts:
Yeah, that’s the biggest thing. I mean for me I’ve been through it before so maybe earlier in my career that’d be something that eats away at you. Eats away at you in the sense that you want to play, you want to contribute to the team and you want to be a piece of the puzzle and so you’ve just got to make sure you keep working in practice and be prepared. I know my role, and things changed a little bit with Quick getting hurt, so I’m just making sure I give the team a chance to win when I get in there. Other then that Minnesota game where I was really bad, other then that I feel really comfortable with my game and I just want to keep building on it. Tonight was my first win as an LA King so it’s good to get that one out of the way.

Zatkoff, on coming into the second period and facing 16 shots:
I think it’s easier that way. They had some good looks but I think when you’re able to make a few saves early on it settles you down instead of sitting there waiting for the whole period. For me not being in there in the first I was able to really just get in to the game, come in right away and get a feel for the puck. You ask any goalie, you just want to touch it, you want to feel it and I was able to kind of settle in there and I think halfway through that period we got our legs back a little bit and I thought we played really well in the third.

Zatkoff, on getting goal support from Nolan:
He’s been playing really well for us and he’s a good player. You saw the first goal, he makes a nice move and just a crafty play on that last one he scores. We just had goals at big times like I said from different guys throughout the lineup which is how you win. It’s gotta be someone different every night, you can’t rely on one guy night in and night out. That’s not a recipe for success.

Jordan Nolan, on his first-ever two goal game:
Yeah, it’s been a while since I scored some. I feel like I was getting some chances. Even last year I felt like I had a lot of Grade A chances and just couldn’t put them in. nice to get rewarded tonight.

Nolan, on what he saw on his goals:
Just some puck luck, I guess. I feel like I’m getting some good chances here and it was just fortunate enough to go in tonight.

Nolan, on winning the second game of a back-to-back:
Yeah, back-to-backs are important for our team. I guess it doesn’t matter how you get the two points, as long as you get them, but it definitely wasn’t one of our best games. Zats came in and played good for us and we were fortunate enough to get the two points.

Nolan, on whether he knew when his last goal was:
I couldn’t tell you. I don’t even want to look back on it, just kind of forget about it and move on.

Nolan, on his second goal:
I see some of the top players kind of throw it at the net when they’re in the corner and it goes in for them, so I thought, ‘Why not give it a try?’

Nolan, on the move he pulled to score the first goal:
I do that once in a while in practice, thought I’d try it out today. I saw the puck come and made a good play and it went in.
