November 23 postgame notes

-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 47-43-14 all-time against New York, a record that includes a home mark of 27-17-8. The Kings improved to 8-2-1 in their last 11 home games in the series and have points in seven straight home games against the Islanders (6-0-1) since a 3-2 regulation setback on February 15, 2003 in which Arron Asham (x2), Jason Blake, Ziggy Palffy and Mathieu Schneider scored, and Garth Snow outdueled Jamie Storr. The teams will meet again at Barclays Center on January 21.

-Los Angeles improved to 5-3-0 against the Eastern Conference, 4-1-0 against the Metropolitan Division and 3-1 in two-goal games.

-The 4-2 win was the 1,600th win in franchise history.

-The three goals scored by the Kings over a :44 second span was just three seconds from tying the franchise record set March 2, 1989 (Steve Duchesne scored twice and Wayne Gretzky scored once in the span of 41 seconds).

-With 35 goals over the last 11 games, Los Angeles is averaging 3.18 goals per game since being shutout in three consecutive games.

-Dwight King scored a pair of goals 25 seconds apart. The franchise record for the fastest two goals by one player is held by Ralph Backstrom, who scored a pair of third period goals six seconds apart in a 5-2 win versus Boston on November 2. He registered his 100th and 101st career NHL points and his first multi-goal game since January 3, 2015 against Nashville (also 2-0=2).

-By appearing in his 780th career game, Anze Kopitar tied Mattias Norstrom for sixth place on the club’s all-time games played list.

-By scoring his 43rd career goal, Alec Martinez moved within one goal of Garry Galley (44 goals) for eighth place on the club’s all-time list of goals by a defenseman.

-Matt Greene appeared in his 600th career NHL game.

-Peter Budaj made his 19th consecutive appearance for the Kings, a career-high for consecutive games played. His 11 wins are tied for the NHL lead and represents his highest win total in a single season since he won 15 games with Colorado in 2010-11.

-Alec Martinez extended his point streak to four games (2-2=4).

-By assisting on Dwight King’s second goal, Drew Doughty extended his assist streak to three games (1-3=4), tying the longest by a King this season).

-Jeff Carter’s game-winning goal and point streak ended at three games.

-Tyler Toffoli’s assist and point streak ended at three games.

-With a 0-for-2 performance, the Kings’ power play is 4-for-42 over the last 14 games.

-Los Angeles attempted 64 shots (28 on goal, 17 blocked, 19 missed). New York attempted 53 shots (24 on goal, 19 blocked, 10 missed). Dustin Brown led all skaters with six shots on goal and 10 shot attempts (6 on goal, 2 blocked, 2 missed).

-The Kings won 27-of-58 faceoffs (47%). Anze Kopitar won 10-of-22, Nick Shore won 2-of-7, Nic Dowd won 3-of-7 and Jeff Carter won 12-of-22.
