On what he liked the most about the final three minutes of the game:
All the goals. Wasn’t there like four goals in the last three minutes? We got away with it a little bit tonight. Our work ethic was really good, I just think execution – those teams that stack everybody up across the blue line, force you to put pucks in, we’ve seen it several times this year. We got away with it tonight. [Reporter: Is that a return of the old neutral zone trap?] No. It’s quite the opposite. We’ve seen it several times this year. Teams just line up and force you to put pucks in and get it back. Actually we scored- [Reporter: You scored one.] No, we scored two. The first one and the third one. Very same.
On Anze Kopitar’s first game:
I think he was in the grind part of it. He played with grinders, and quite honest, those wingers of his were probably the difference in the game – Kinger and Lewie and Cliffy and Jordy.
On the team’s “slow” starts the last several seasons, and how they spur resilience:
I don’t look at last season, I look at this season, because it’s a different team, right? We have about eight different players. It’s really not ‘Kings,’ it’s [Reporter: This year?] Jonathan Quick got hurt in the first game. We’ve used four goalies and several defensemen. I couldn’t tell you how many players. We’ve probably used more than any in the league. Just trying to stay in the race. It’s not hard to figure out. We’re a middle-of-the-pack team, and we’ll bust our ass to stay there.
On Dwight King’s deflection goal:
Well, it’s a chip play to speed. Lewie makes contact, Shore puts it back to Forbort, Forbort’s supposed to get it through to the net, somebody’s supposed to get in front of the net. Tic-tac-toe, put your arms in the air.
